COED RULES
1) 2 people of the opposite sex on the court at all time. ie 2 women, 3 men, or
3 women and 2 men.(these will be refered to as the proper player combinations
below)
2) If a team has to play without the proper combination the other team is awarded
1 goal for that half and the team plays short. If the second half starts and
the team has yet to meet the requirements, another goal is awarded to the other
team.(max of 1 goal per half/2 goals per game can be awarded to the other team).
The goal penalty is awarded immediately at the start of the half. If the team
starts the half with an improper combination they are immediately penalized. If
a player shows up at a later time, they are allowed to come on to fullfill the
proper combination but the goal will not be removed.
3) If during the half, the team that was penalized can now play the proper
combination the ref will allow the player to come onto the court but the goal
will not be taken away
4) if the team is caught with an improper player combination on the court(ie bad
line change) no goal will be awarded. The team will play 2 minutes short.
After the 2 minutes the referee is to allow the team to place a player to
complete the proper combination. At that time, if the proper combination cannot
be met, then 1 goal is awarded to the other team(as long as it has not been
penalized with a goal already) and the team will have to play short.
5) If during the course of the game a team is reduced to playing without the
proper combination and can no longer place the correct combination of players(ie
injury or player must leave), then the team is penalized 1 goal after playing
short for 2 minutes, and must play short for the remanider of the game or until
someone can go onto the court to fill the proper combination.
6) if both teams do not have enough players to setup a proper combination, it
will be up to the managers to decide whether to play short or to play 5 players
of the wrong combination. If a displut occurs, then both teams will play short.
Examples:
i) A and B have a game. A cannot start the game with the proper combination.
They start the game playing one man short and B is awarded 1 goal. 2 minutes
after the start of the game A gets a player to fullfill the proper combination.
The ref is to allow the player to come on, but B still has the 1 goal. Now A
gets an injury and can no longer full fill the combination. They play short,
but another goal is not given to B. If A cannot start the second half with the
proper combination another goal is awarded to B. 1 goal max per half.
ii) If both A and B start the game with proper combination, but A gets an injury
during the game and can no longer have a proper combination, then they play short
and 2 minutes later if the person cannot go back onto the court 1 goal is
awarded to B. If at the start of the second half, A still does not have the
proper combination they will continue to play short and B is awarded another
goal.
iii) A and B start the game OK. A has a bad line change. They are caught with
an improper combination. The ref sends the player off for 2 minutes. After 2
minutes A can place a player on the floor to have the proper combination. If
they cannot, they continue to play short until they can and 1 goal is given to
B, if a goal has not been awared to B during that half yet.
